2015 Chinook and Coho Recap and 2016 Forecast

The 2015 Buoy 10 season is now a memory, but what a fantastic season it proved to be. With over 1, 330,000 Chinooks over Bonneville Dam, anglers all up and down the Columbia had their best year ever! North Coast River Guides’ customers were no exception with most trips ending in limits of big Chinooks averaging over 20 pounds.

One the other hand, our Silver Salmon season was a disappointment. With a predicted run of 500,000 Cohos, everyone involved was eager to intercept these “Silver Bullets” fresh from the salt water. But the run “tanked” and only a comparative handful of Coho made their way back in 2015.  So my clients had to “suffer” with big fat Kings all day long. But no one complained, everyone caught LOTS of fish, and everyone had a great time!

The 2016 run of  Chinook Salmon is predicted by some to be as good as 2015. No doubt the Silver Salmon prediction will be adjusted downward, but the King (Chinook) forecast should be right on the money.

Join us for this Columbia River bounty!  See you on the River!
